Volkswagen Group South Africa Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Learnership and Technical Apprenticeship Programmes. The closing date for applications is 04 November 2025.


What is the Volkswagen Group South Africa Learnership Programme?

Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) is looking for young South Africans who want a hands‑on career in cars, machines or manufacturing. The learnership is a full‑time training program run by the Technical Learning Academy (TLA). You learn real skills on the job and in the classroom, while getting paid and earning a recognised certificate.

Hands‑on fields you can choose from

  • Electrical
  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Millwright (works on big machines)
  • Automotive Motor Mechanic
  • Tool Making
  • Welding
  • Transportation Electrician
  • Mechatronics Technician (mix of tech and mechanics)

How to qualify

Requirement
Matric (Grade 12)Pass in Core Mathematics and Physical Science (Maths Literacy not accepted).
N3 CertificateFour subjects, including Core Mathematics and Physical Science, or a higher qualification.

What will you do?

  1. Interview – You’ll meet a panel and discuss why you want this role and what field you prefer.
  2. Choose your field – State a first and second choice of the three fields listed above.
  3. Study while you work – You’ll attend part‑time lessons.
  4. Pay‑check – No overtime unless specifically authorized.
  5. Internal employees – Must give current job title and SAP number.

Important: If you’ve already completed a TLA apprenticeship or learnership, you can’t re‑apply. Successful trainees will return to a vacant production position after the program.


How to apply

Submit the following certified documents (no older than 3 months):

  1. Copy of your South African ID.
  2. Copy of your highest school or college qualification.
  3. A full motivational letter – explain why you want to train and which field interests you.
  4. Contact details – active cellphone number and an alternative number.
