What Is the RBIDZ Bursary Programme?
The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) is a local business hub that helps kids from the province of KwaZulu‑Natal. They want to give money to bright students who want to go to university in 2026. To qualify, you have to be a first–year student and you must have scored at least 65 % in every subject in Grade 12. The money is for studies at a South African university or a university of technology.

Who Can Apply?
You must meet these simple rules:
- Live in KwaZulu‑Natal – Only students from the province can apply.
- Good grades – A minimum overall score of 65 % in Grade 12.
- South African citizen – You must be a citizen of South Africa.
- Disadvantaged background – Preference goes to students from communities that have had fewer opportunities.
- Proof of admission – You need an acceptance letter, a conditional offer, or a proof that you have applied to a recognized university or university of technology.
Documents You Need to Send
Your application must include certified copies of the following (not older than 3 months):
- Grade 12 certificate or, if you are still in high school, your mid‑year progress report.
- A certified copy of your South African ID.
- Proof of where you live (e.g., a letter from your ward councillor or tribal authority).
- A certified copy of your parent or guardian’s ID.
- Your university offer or acceptance letter.
- Proof that your parent or guardian earns an income – salary slips, SASSA slips, or an affidavit if they are unemployed.
- A character reference letter from a teacher or community leader.
- A motivation letter that explains why you want this bursary and what you wish to achieve.
