2026 Compensation Fund (COID) Bursary – Apply Now for Graduate Opportunities

The Compensation Fund is looking for suitable young people to apply for their External Bursary Programme 2026 opportunities. The closing date for applications is 31 March 2026.

What the COID Bursary Is All About

The Compensation Fund (COID) Bursary Programme gives unemployed people who have suffered permanent disability from a work injury, or the families of those who died from an occupational accident, a chance to study.
It isn’t just a grant – it’s a pathway to a new job and a better life.

  • Who it helps

    • Unemployed COID beneficiaries with permanent disability
    • Dependents of those beneficiaries
    • Dependents of workers who died from a workplace injury or disease
  • What it covers

    • Full tuition fees paid straight to the college or university
    • Required textbooks and study materials
    • A monthly stipend to cover basic living costs
    • Housing support, where available
  • Why it matters
The money lets you focus on your studies instead of worrying about bills. Plus, it opens doors to future jobs in engineering, health, ICT, construction, public service and more.

Day‑to‑Day of a Bursary Student

You’ll be a full‑time student at a recognised TVET college, CET college, university or other higher education institution. Each month you’ll receive a stipend that can be used for food, transport or a little extra for school supplies. If you’re living off‑campus, the Fund can help with rent or accommodation fees.

If you pass your exams and keep up the good work, you can renew the bursary each year – it’s not a one‑time deal. The catch? The funding is only renewed if you meet academic requirements and funds are still available.

How to Check if You Qualify

  1. Unemployed – you must not be working at the time of applying.
  2. Full‑time enrolment – you need a place at an accredited institution.
  3. Proof of COID status – you (or your parent/guardian) must have a COID pension or claim number.
  4. Disability paperwork – if you have a disability, you need a health professional’s certification and a Disability Support Office confirmation.
  5. Supporting documents – certified copies of your ID, and for dependents, your parent’s ID or a death certificate if the worker has died.
  6. Admission letter – a proof that you’ve been accepted into a recognised programme.

If you’re a part‑time student due to disability, you can still apply but only under special circumstances.
