KZN Treasury In-Service Training 2026:Office/Finance (28 Aug deadline)
Need real workplace experience right now? The KwaZulu‑Natal Provincial Treasury is offering an In‑Service Training Programme that lets you work in Office Management or Financial Management while you finish your TVET qualification.
What the opportunity is
The Treasury wants TVET students in KwaZulu‑Natal to join a structured, on‑the‑job training programme. It runs from 1 March 2027 to 31 August 2028, for up to 18 months. You will be placed in Pietermaritzburg and work on real government tasks.
Who can apply (eligibility)
- Student at a KZN TVET College – both your residence and college must be in KwaZulu‑Natal.
- Must hold N4, N5 and N6 certificates in Office Management or Financial Management.
- 18 years or older.
- Permanent resident of KwaZulu‑Natal.
- Must not have taken part in any other in‑service training programme.
- Preferably a student with a disability (the Treasury will give priority to this group).
- Computer literate and willing to relocate to Pietermaritzburg at your own cost.
What you gain
You will earn practical skills that complement your classroom learning, such as handling official correspondence, using financial software, and understanding public‑sector budgeting. The experience can make you more attractive to future employers, both in government and the private sector.

Tips to improve your chances
- Do not wait until the last week; postal delivery can be slow.
- Double‑check that every document is a certified copy, not an original.
- Verify that the college letter clearly states you need in‑service training.
- Use a professional‑looking CV; keep it to two pages maximum.
- Include a reliable telephone number; the Treasury will call you for interviews.
- Plan your relocation budget early – the Treasury does not pay moving costs.
- If you have a disability, highlight any reasonable accommodations you may need.
Next steps
If you meet the criteria, start gathering your documents right away. The sooner you request the college letter and prepare certified copies, the more time you have to send a complete application before 28 August 2026.
