Cortex Hub & MICT SETA Launch 2026 Fibre Optic & 5G Training: Career Paths for Tech Graduates

Cortex Hub is looking for suitable young people to apply for their Fibre Optic and 5G Fixed Wireless Access Skills Development Programme opportunities. The closing date for applications is 27 February 2026.

Why this programme is a win for you

If you’re between 15 and 25, unemployed or just starting out, and you’re curious about tech, this is your chance to learn skills that employers in South Africa are hunting for. Fibre optic cables and 5G networks are the backbone of the internet. When you finish this three‑month training, you’ll know how to install, splice, test and maintain the cables that carry everything from streaming shows to emergency calls.

What you’ll get

  • Accredited training – the curriculum is set by MICT SETA, so the certificate you receive is recognised across the country.
  • Hands‑on experience – you’ll work on real fibre lines and 5G towers, not just theory.
  • Mentorship – seasoned technicians will guide you every step of the way.
  • Career support – CV reviews, interview prep and job‑matching help are part of the package.
  • Potential for a small stipend – some participants receive a modest monthly allowance while they learn (contact the organisers for details).
