What the internship offers

Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is offering two paid internship streams for 2026. The roles are:

  • Customer Services Intern – based at Soweto Theatre (Jabulani)
  • Information Technology Intern – two positions, based at Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein)

The stipend is R6 094 per month. The placement can last up to 24 months.

Who can apply

You must meet all of the following:

  • Age between 18 and 35 years
  • South African citizen
  • Live in a Johannesburg community area
  • Hold a Diploma (or higher) that matches the internship stream
  • Never completed a similar internship that aligns with your qualification
  • Provide certified copies of your ID and qualifications (not older than three months)

Customer Services Intern – requirements

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Diploma in Public Administration or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office and email)

Information Technology Intern – requirements

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office and email)

What you will learn

Customer Services Intern – you will handle phone, email and face‑to‑face enquiries, log requests, maintain the CRM system, prepare trend reports, observe complaint handling, support follow‑up processes, attend training, develop support resources, shadow staff, take minutes in meetings and submit monthly learning reports. This equips you for roles in public administration, municipal services, events coordination and general customer engagement.

Information Technology Intern – you will troubleshoot basic computer problems, assist with system set‑up, install software updates, perform password resets, help with connectivity issues, keep equipment inventory, support staff IT queries and follow documentation standards. This builds a foundation for careers in IT support, help desks, systems administration, network support and municipal ICT departments.
